BTEC Sport
We offer two BTEC Sport courses:
BTEC National Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (3 A Level Equivalent)
BTEC National Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sport (1 A Level Equivalent)
BTEC Sport combines practical experience and written assignments, these vocational qualifications provide learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for a career in the sector.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between BTEC Sport and A level PE ?
A level is more exam based and looks at 6 key areas in depth. There is a practical and coursework assessment. BTEC is only coursework but covers a number of other areas.
Can I study A Level PE and BTEC Sport?
Yes- if you choose the extended certificate BTEC course (1 A Level equivalent) you can do both. However, if you choose to study the extended diploma (3 A level equivalent) then you can’t as this is a full time course.
What will I do in the first year?
In the first year you will cover Careers in Sport, Health and Wellbeing, Nutrition, Developing Coaching Skills, Sport Development and Practical Sport. In each unit there will be a practical element for you to get involved with from coaching to cooking.
