BTEC Art & Design

The BTEC Diploma in Art & Design is a 2 A Level equivalent and gives students a chance to explore their creativity and imagination, to learn more about themselves in an open-minded environment in which every student will do something unique and individual to them. Students have a degree of freedom in which to explore their own interests and develop each project in their own way.

Art & Design is incredibly varied, and you will be able to explore a wide range of skills and processes that you won’t have used before. St Mary’s boasts a range of facilities that will allow you to expand what you are capable of and set you up for a successful future in the Arts.

What do you learn about in Art & Design?

In Art & Design we study a wide range of historical and contemporary artists and use a huge variety of materials and techniques. Over the 2 years you will study the creative process that artists go through to produce their work and use these methods to develop your own individual ideas and outcomes. You will study learn about fine art, graphics, printmaking, 3D and have the opportunity to take your work in different directions based on your own interests.
