Our Courses
At SM6 we have a huge variety of subjects on offer, a total of 47 course options for you to select from.
We have options for every student irrespective of your final GCSE grades. There are several subjects that have a higher entry requirement than others, for example Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology but the minimum requirement to access the majority of A-levels and A-level equivalent Btec’s is a grade 4 pass in either English Language or English Literature, along with four other subjects at grade 4 (or above).
If you fail to achieve a grade 4 or above in Maths, you’ll have to take re-sit Maths as one of your options in year 12. Don’t worry if at the end of year 11 you fail to pass English or Maths at a grade 4 or above because we have a very successful one year re-sit programme that students are able to join.
This is the perfect time to make a decision on what are the right choices for you, do you work best when the subject is coursework based? What subjects do you need for your ideal career? Shall I have a fresh start and pick courses that are new to me?
Many of you will already have a clear idea of what you’d like to choose in your post-16 education but if you’re unsure we’re here to help. If you decide that SM6 is where you want to study we’ll be able to offer advice and guidance regarding any queries you have on making the right choices for you.
